Alejandro Garnacho is making his mark at Aston Villa after scoring the winning goal in their friendly against Sevilla.
The 22-year-old, who joined Villa on a season-long loan from Chelsea, has had to wait patiently for his opportunity, with Unai Emery taking his time before giving him regular minutes.
However, Garnacho’s performance against Sevilla could now change the situation. He was Villa’s liveliest attacker and scored in the 79th minute, arriving at the far post to finish Alysson’s low cross.
After the game, Garnacho sent a clear message on Instagram: “2 test, 2 goals. Ready now!”
His performance has now given Emery another decision to make, with Garnacho pushing for his first competitive start.
Villa already have several options in wide areas, including Morgan Rogers, John McGinn and Alysson. But Garnacho offers something different with his direct style, pace and ability to attack from the touchline.
With Aston Villa preparing to face Brentford, Garnacho will be hoping his Sevilla performance is enough to earn him a place in the starting XI.
