Spain continued their impressive form with a commanding 4-1 victory over Croatia at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium in Seville strengthening their position in Group A3 of the UEFA Nations League.
Lamine Yamal set the tone almost immediately, opening the scoring after just 70 seconds following a flowing Spanish move. Croatia responded in the 28th minute when Dion Drena Beljo headed home the equaliser, briefly threatening to disrupt Spain’s dominance.
The hosts, however, wasted little time restoring their advantage. Marc Pubill put Spain back in front after being set up by Yamal, ensuring Luis de la Fuente’s side went into the interval with control of the contest. Spain continued to dictate possession and create the better opportunities after the restart.
Yamal struck again in the 63rd minute to complete his brace and give Spain a comfortable cushion. The young forward was the outstanding performer on the night, contributing two goals and an assist as Croatia struggled to contain Spain’s pace, movement and technical quality.
Nico Williams completed the scoring in the 88th minute with a fine individual effort, sealing an emphatic victory for the reigning world champions. Veteran Croatian midfielder Luka Modrić, introduced late in the game, received a warm ovation from supporters in recognition of his distinguished career, but his arrival could not change the outcome.
The victory followed Spain’s 3-2 win over England at Wembley in their opening Nations League match and extended their unbeaten run to 40 games. Croatia, who had opened their campaign with a 2-1 victory over Czechia, were unable to reproduce that winning start against a Spanish side that once again demonstrated its attacking depth and growing confidence.
